Une exposition de pièces et de performances d’artistes plasticiens proposée par le CAC Brétigny (centre
d’art contemporain de Brétigny) dans le cadre du
Festival Faits d’Hiver 2006, au grand studio Micadanses
à Paris pour une durée de trois jours. Les artistes
présents interviendront pendant toute la durée de
l’exposition sans précision sur l’heure de l’activation
de leur performance.
Cette exposition propose de mettre en perspective les
approches récentes et historiques du corps performatif
dans le champ des arts plastiques et l’actualité d’une
scène chorégraphique contemporaine qui exprime un arrêt
du mouvement, un refus de la pose, en quelque sorte un
degré zéro de sa pratique.
Présentées dans un studio de danse, un lieu de répétition
et de recherche chorégraphique, les objets et performances
sélectionnés ou réalisés spécialement pour l’occasion
par les artistes trouveront un écho avec la pratique quotidienne du lieu. Le mode d’apparition des œuvres et
leur articulation proposeront aux visiteurs dans une
durée d’exposition singulière de trois jours, de faire
l’expérience d’une nouvelle position dans l’espace ordonné
du studio.
Les œuvres des artistes invités agissent sur la présence
physiologique et sensuelle du corps. Ces performances
activent des traces qui situent une action dans un espace
physique et politique. Elles produisent des objets et
des signes qui renvoient à un environnement culturel et
mental. Chaque oeuvre développe sa propre forme de
perception, dépendante de la lecture et de la subjectivité
du spectateur.
Réunies sous le titre La Monnaie vivante tiré du livre
de Pierre Klossowski sur le corps inscrit dans le champ
de la valeur, cette exposition est une interprétation
libre de cet essai philosophique et poétique.
Elle place ce texte comme l’horizon théorique de ces
œuvres et redistribue les limites du corps dans l’espace.

This exhibition of artist’s pieces and performances is proposed by the Brétigny Centre of Contemporary Art
(CAC Brétigny) as part of the 2006 Faits d’Hiver Festival,
which will take place at the Micadanses studio in Paris.
At no time during the three days that the exhibition lasts
will the public be told when the artists’ performances
are starting.
The exhibition aims to get a perspective on historical
and more recent approaches to the body as a focus of
performance in the visual arts in light of the latest
developments in a contemporary dance scene that, today,
is expressing a desire to arrest movement, a refusal
to pose, a kind of degree zero of dance practice.
A dance studio is a place intended for rehearsal and
choreographical research, and the objects and
performances that have been selected – or specially
created for this occasion – by the artists will reflect
the everyday usage of the space. This unique three-day
exhibition, because of the way the works are presented
and combined, invites the visitors to experience a position
in the ordered space of the studio that is new for them.
The works of all the artists invited act on the
physiological and sensual presence of the body.
These performances activate vestiges that situate actions
in a physical and political space, producing objects and
signs that reflect the mental and cultural environment.
Each work develops its own form of perception, according
to the spectator’s subjectivity and interpretation.
United by the title La Monnaie vivante (Living Currency)
taken from Pierre Klossowski’s book on the body as part of
the domain of value, this exhibition is a free
interpretation of Klossowski’s philosophical and poetical
essay. It places the text as the theoretical horizon of
these works and redistributes the limits of the body in
space.
