The Austrian artist and filmmaker Marlies Pöschl would like to invite you to discover her work and talk about book excerpts, short stories and films whose themes are based on science fiction and robotics.

Technologies and artificial intelligence that are endowed with feelings and can show empathy are developing at an extraordinary pace right now. They form utterly new disciplines which can be seen in literature as well as film. Taken from a conversation between two AIs developed by Facebook, the phrase “You i i i i i eve- rything else” suggests they have a capacity to develop their own language, one that is incomprehensible to humans. The three sessions of the reading club that Marlies Pöschl is offering represent a chance to reflect together on the impact these new technologies are having on our connection with others and therefore with ourselves.

Marlies Pöschl is completing a residency-mission as part of a Local Contract for Art Education reached between Cœur d’Essonne Agglomération, the Ministry of Culture and Communications – Drac Île-de-France, and the Academy of Versailles, in partnership with the Department of Essonne. Selected by the Institut français, Marlies Pöschl is currently a resident artist at the Cité Internationale des Arts of Paris.
