For the Salon du livre de jeunesse Janna Zhiri has created an installation open to imagination and poetry through a series of suspended drawings.
With support from CAC Brétigny, the artist Janna Zhiri offers a space to read and rest, fertile ground for the invention of absurd stories and chimerical yarns. She draws inspiration from literature, from tales of friendship and love and from illness in order to invent stories that she transforms into drawings, where everything mixes into scenery, into immersive installation. She offers visitors the opportunity to wander through her work and recompose the story they want to see.
Janna Zhiri just completed the artist-researcher programme at the Ecole Supérieur de Clermont Métropole’s Research Cooperative, presenting her extravagant installations: the CHU-Brouillon, a cabaret that explores illness within artistic practice, or PERMANENCE, a space for experimentation and artistic imbalances within a secondary school. Her stories, her set designs are aids for telling, declaring, entertaining that combine conviction, humour and rough, caustic and disillusioned traits; the narrative world becomes subject to digression in a call for revolution that comes from the heart. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at DOC (Paris), Fondation Francès (Paris), MAC (Lyon), 100% Villette (Paris), Salon de Montrouge, and elsewhere.
