Each year, “The Final” (Le Final) concludes in chorus, occupying the art centre’s space and permeating the daily life of local residents. A series of events at CAC and several partner venues, “The Final” focuses on amateur practices and unveils works co-created by users and the creations of participants in these parallel areas generated by the artists.

This year, the residencies will extend until the autumn, with interventions taking on new formats adapted to the situation, both off-site and online.

For this unusual summer, the CAC Brétigny is offering the opportunity to explore, particularly through practice, the work of the artists in residence, with events organised directly at the partner venues and the art centre:

Éric Giraudet de Boudemange’s “Club Colombophile du Cœur” combines science, popular mythology and the visual arts to explore the mystery of how birds navigate. The artist has collaborated with people met locally. For “The Final”, the club was opened up to everyone, with workshops in preparation for the exhibition that will take place at Théâtre Brétigny and online at the beginning of next season.
Taking as her starting point the sculpture Vaisseau II Mille, a rocket in the shape of the Eiffel tower outside of the Jean-Pierre Timbaud secondary school in Brétigny-sur-Orge, Laura Burucoa sounds out the ways in which the future and progress are imagined. For “The Final”, she invited local members of the public to take part in participative workshops and hosted a week-long workshop in a disadvantaged neighbourhood of the city of Brétigny. The artist will also produced a series of online podcasts with young secondary school students from Brétigny.
Charles Mazé & Coline Sunier are designing “The ABCC of the CACB” (L’ABCC du CACB), a collection of letters, signs, and symbols gleaned in Brétigny and from the surrounding Essonne area, or from archives, in relation to the CAC Brétigny programme. During an outdoor workshop, participants will roam the cities of the Cœur Essonne area looking for their secrets and graphic wonders.

“The Final” benefits from the support of the Direction régionale des Affaires culturelles d'Île-de-France—Ministère de la Culture. The CAC Brétigny is a cultural establishment of Cœur d'Essonne Agglomération. Labeled as a Contemporary Art Center of National Interest, it benefits from the support of the Ministère de la Culture— DRAC Île-de-France, Région Île-de-France and Conseil départemental de l’Essonne, with the complicity of the Brétigny-sur-Orge's municipality. CAC Brétigny is a member of TRAM and d.c.a.
