    Transmissions #28: Lots of sizzling

    On *Duuu radio

Real or fictive archives from parallel realities or possible futures inhabited the “Les conjugueuls #3: Planetary memories” exhibition. After discovering them, the final-year art students from the Albert Einstein high school in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois created their audio capsules, immersing us into a world of sounds with blurred temporalities: ghost stories drawn from the great archive of the net are mixed with different noises from the contemporary world.

An episod recorded in May 2024 by the final-year art students at Albert Einstein high school in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, accompanied by artists Sonia Saroya and Edouard Sufrin and sound director Elen Huynh, as well as their teacher Alicia Pelletier.

Transmissions #27: I hear noises, is it my ancestors calling?

    On *Duuu radio

Snippets of stories from the future, nonsensical languages and strange noises project us into the imaginary sound worlds created by the teenagers at Repères. Echoing the works by Victor Gogly and Loucia Carlier in the "lunuale #1" exhibition, they take us on a journey into a parallel reality. Recordings collected during the collective creative process also give us access to the work carried out with the artists.

An episod recorded in January 2024 by teenagers and educators from EDI Repères in Brétigny-sur-Orge, accompanied by artists Sonia Saroya and Edouard Sufrin and sound director Elen Huynh.

    Transmissions #26: Destination Moon

    On *Duuu radio

Students of the Roland Garros middle school in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon have imagined a planetary voyage. This odyssey, which takes as its starting point the strange “robot” by artist Pierre-Alexandre Savriacouty discovered in the exhibition “Les conjugueuls #2”, tells the story of attempts to communicate with extraterrestrials. The soundscape of this epic is made up of sounds captured in the exhibition space and at the school, with microphones transforming our environment into noises from the future.

An episod recorded in January 2024 by a class from the Roland Garros middle school in Saint-Germain-lès-Arpajon, accompanied by artist Sonia Saroya and Edouard Sufrin and sound director Elen Huynh, as well as their teacher Lise Foujanet.

    lunulae #3

    Exhibition

During his explorations of territories, Victor Gogly gathers the materials that make up some of his works. His musical practice influences his drawing and painting, in which we can see silhouettes immersed in desolate landscapes. Curator Thomas Maestro has invited the artist to present these different aspects of his work in the third chapter of the “lunulae” cycle of exhibitions.

    Discussion around the exhibition

In the company of Maïa Lacoustille, Valentin Gleyze and Margaux Bonopera

For the last day of the exhibition at CAC Brétigny, the Champs magnétiques collective propose a round table with the artist Maïa Lacoustille, Valentin Gleyze from the Young Cinema collective, and Margaux Bonopera, curator. The discussion will take as its starting point reflections on the occult, contemporary spiritualities and alternative knowledge offered by the works in the exhibition, with which resonates the short film program designed by the Young Cinema collective. We will thus ask the question of the meeting, between artistic but also esoteric proposals.

Followed at 6 pm by a friendly moment around an aperitif.

    Teen visit

Specially addressed to students of establishments around the art center (Paul Éluard college and Jean-Pierre Timbaud high school), "CAC, tomatoes, onions" is a visit organized during the lunch break, between two classes. • Workshop with Louise Siffert and the students of the Visual Arts Preparatory Class Grand Paris Sud (Evry)

    “Komos”

Working from texts by Aristophanes and Ovid, Louise Siffert proposes generating collective and individual fictions in order to examine the concepts of transition, transformation, and identity. Participants will eventually rewrite scenes from the Greek tragicomedy, trying their hand at a farce based on genders. Sets and costumes created during the workshops will enable them to explore the way an identity takes shape and becomes flesh through the body/object relationship, the gaze, and the connection with the Other and with space.

  • Workshop with Thibault de Gialluly at Fleury-Mérogis detention center in collaboration with Cyrille Candas

“Les autres ou rien” (Others or nothing)

As part of this project, participants are invited to imagine and design a fictional entity that offers the chance of becoming someone else, changing identities, or disidentifying. As a kind of advisor in transvestism and faux attributes, this company is meant to enable people to appropriate new qualities – ordinary and/or extraordinary ones – modify their appearance, invent new meanings and skills, and compose a new image and narrative of themselves.

Tour & workshop of the exhibition

Before the performance of Joris Lacoste’s Suite №2 at the Théâtre Brétigny, we are offering a studio tour focusing on the connections between language and image. Weaving links between the exhibition “Mémoire double” and theater piece Suite №2, the proposed studio tour is an opportunity to discover the different ways of forming a collection, archiving day-to-day memories as historical souvenirs, and finally thinking about how to put such a collection into spoken words, images, or a presentation for the stage.

    Double memory

    Research sessions

Throughout the run of the show, Angélique Buisson will be inviting a number of people from a range of backgrounds (artists, critics, historians, etc.) to talk with her about some of the issues raised by the project, including the politics of memory, the question of documents and archives, and art making as an undertaking with others. These conversations will take place without an audience present but will be documented (sound recording, text and/or photography), and the documents will then be posted on the CAC Brétigny website. With among others Katia Kameli, Estelle Nabeyrat, and Anne-Lou Vicente...

    Presence revisited, Devora Neumark

    Performance

“Over a period of eight weeks beginning in September of 1997, I sat on a three-legged wooden bench in various places around the city of Montreal crocheting non-stop. For five hours a day, I crocheted using two colours: fine yellow cotton thread marked the stitches I made in solitude, while purple traced my exchanges with the passersby who stopped to speak with me.” Twenty years later, Devora Neumark recreates “Présence” and adapts it to the specificities of the public spaces of Vitry-sur-Seine and Brétigny-sur-Orge.
With the support of Au Ver à Soie.

Research day. Orality: The Spoken. Modalities and practices of collective art-making (1/2)

MAC VAL, Musée d'art contemporain du Val-de-Marne

Numerous practices involving joint works or cooperation between artists grant special importance to speech, the exchange of words. Taking that realization as its starting point, the two-day seminar will tackle the empowerment at work in speaking and voicing opinions, the involvement of processes of deconstruction and subjectivization in the production of multiple voices, and the importance of translation in this polyphonic perspective.
